SUMMER TERM 2026

Please enjoy this selection of our Year 7's artwork.

High SCHool LECKHAMPTON

These sketchbook pages celebrate the creativity and progress of our Year 7 pupils as they begin their artistic journey. Throughout the year, pupils explore the Elements and Principles of Art, develop observational drawing and practical skills, and discover the work of both historical and contemporary artists. Sketchbooks become a place to experiment, reflect and take creative risks, helping pupils build confidence while learning that great art is developed through exploration, practice and refinement. The work displayed here captures the enthusiasm, imagination and growing independence of our youngest artists.

BALCARRAS SCHOOL

Year 7 have been exploring the theme of colour through a range of creative activities. They have learned about colour theory, the significance and symbolism of different colours, and the work of artists who use colour and shape to inspire their practice. Drawing on this knowledge, students planned and created their own sculptures. We are incredibly proud of the diverse outcomes, which demonstrate creativity, originality, thoughtful application of learning, and personal artistic expression.

SPRING TERM 2026

Please enjoy this selection of our Year 9's artwork.

BALCARRAS SCHOOL

Year 9 students at Balcarras were challenged to develop original artwork inspired by the concept of 'Icon'.

Pupils were asked to consider and analyse the characteristics of other artists’ work to inform the planning and making of their own.  Emphasis was placed on originality of outcome and independent creative thought.  Students have gained an insight into the creative and exciting nature of the GCSE course, which allows them to have independent input into the direction of their work.  We are very proud of the diverse and high standard of work produced.

WINCHCOMBE SCHOOL

At Winchcombe School our Year 9 students have been exploring the vibrant and expressive world of Fauvism. Pupils were encouraged to study the key characteristics of Fauvist artist’s work.  From this we encouraged them to experiment boldly with colour and be expressive in their mark-making.

THE HIGH SCHOOL LECKHAMPTON

During this baseline project, our students developed their drawing skills by focusing on shading and details in facial features to create a realistic self-portrait. They explored how artists use portraits to tell stories about their identity and personal lives, not just to show what they look like. We covered the basics of line, shape, form, and value.
